David Villa Has A Broken Leg: Ready, Set, Swoop

David Villa broke his leg during Barcelona's Club World Cup match against Al-Sadd, rendering him fit only for the sidelines for quite a chunk of time, possibly until the end of the season. Sure, the Spaniard hasn't been at his best for Barcelona this season, but "best" at Barcelona still means pretty stinking good. Better than players Aston Villa have sitting on their bench, for sure. In fact, I might take a broken David Villa sitting on the bench over Emile Heskey. I would put the forward in at right-back over our current starter, for goodness sake. Positions don't seem to matter much to Alex McLeish, so what harm would there be?

I know, I know, it's just a crazy dream. David Villa is Spanish, after all. That right there takes him out of contention. Plus he's only 5'9". And he knows how to handle a three-forward system. And can pass and receive the ball on the ground. What on earth would Villa do with him?

Sell shirts, that's what they'd do. Aston Villa can make back all money spent on David Villa by selling kits emblazoned with "Villa" on the back (none of that two-named nonsense here. We're English, damn it). Quite frankly, it's the best investment the club can make. Get on the phone!
