Four Aston Villa Players Named To England U21 Squad

Stay connected for news and updates

England will visit Stadio Carlo Castellani to face Italy's U-21s in a friendly next Tuesday and manager Stuart Pearce has named four (current) Aston Villa youngsters to the squad which was released today.

Nathan Delfouneso, Fabian Delph, Marc Albrighton and Kyle Walker (currently on loan from Tottenham Hotspur of course, though I think most of us have chosen to ignore that and hope a way for him to be moved to the club permanently arises) will all be in the 18 for the match. This will be the fifth appearance for the England U21s for Walker, Delfouneso and Delph and the fourth for Albrighton.

Obviously not surprising or monumental news, but it's always good for a club's players to gain international experience. Albrighton and Walker are quite a bit closer than the other two to earning a call up to the senior squad in the near future and a good showing against Italy (who boast one of Europe's better youth systems) could go a ways towards making a further positive impression on Fabio Capello.
