We'll miss you, NRC
Just hours after Nigel Reo-Coker announced via Twitter that he was getting married, Aston Villa made another announcement: the midfielder was being released by the club. Bye bye. Services no longer required. NRC gets a bit of special attention here, because most Villa fans didn't think he deserved to go. The 27-year-old spent four seasons with the Villa and although he struggled early in the season with injury, he's still a fine midfield enforcer. The reason for his release must be that the club just couldn't meet his contract demands.
As for the rest of the list, well, no one should be too sad to see them go. Except for those that enjoy making up terrace chants, of course. They'll never forget Moustapha Salifou.
In addition to Reo-Coker, John Carew, Moustapha Salifou, Robert Pires, and Isaiah Osbourne were all released. So were baby Villans Harry Forrester, Arsenio Halfhuid, Durrell Berry, Ellis Deeney and Calum Flanagan. If anyone objects to Pires being released -- and actually watched the matches this season --please make sure you've read up on just how much of a pain Pires is. As for Carew, well, he had an awesome song but after his compete and total ineptitude on the pitch, as well as lashing out at Gerard Houllier in the press, there was no way he was coming back to Villa. And wasn't everyone ready to see him go after the horrible penalty miss at St. James Park?
