Rangers Confirm Bid For Carlos Cuellar, Making Aston Villa Fans Sad

It's a battle of levitation

Glasgow Rangers have confirmed a bid for Aston Villa defender Carlos Cuellar, who left the Scottish side in 2008. While injury (and perhaps a bit of disfavor) kept the Spaniard out of the Villa side for much of the season, he remains a favorite with supporters, most of whom will be upset to see King Carlos return to Rangers.

Last month, we learned that Cuellar had been playing injured for much of the season, delaying an operation on his knee in order to provide cover for the injured Richard Dunne and James Collins. It would have been nice to see a healthy Carlos back in the defense at Villa Park, but he would likely welcome the return to Rangers, having once said he wanted to stay with the club for life. He still keeps an eye on the team's performances and cheers them on.

Star-divide

What won't be happening, it seems, is the transfer of Scotland goalkeeper Allan McGregor to the Villa. Alex McLeish stated that landing a keeper is his number-one priority at the moment (which isn't exactly a brainteaser, come on, we just sold our number one), and it makes perfect sense for him to chase the Scot. Rangers however, have said that McGregor is not for sale.

What say you, Villans? Would you like to keep King Carlos around, or do you think he deserves to a club where he can play every day? I, for one, am just happy that he will likely not be leaving Twitter.

If he does leave...

it better mean that Ciaran Clark gets a proper opportunity to start.

I'd love to keep him around, if only because he is so darn lovable.

But also because he seems to be pretty solid, in an area where we could use some help. That said, if there is one thing I will give McLeish the benefit of the doubt on, it’s defense.

King Carlos better stay

Want him and two new center halves to form a rotation at CB, with Clark to play occasionally there and occasionally in the midfield

I am just a bitter Wizards fan who clings to my bobbleheads and that 2005 playoff series victory!
