Protest saturday at Villa Park/ rant about manager

There is a protest scheduled Saturday at Villa Park.

From what ive read, this seems to be an issue that has divided Villa fans. I was just curious to what everyones views were on this as well as the controversy around McLeish (will he or wont he take the England job, he is basically a shoo-in).

Star-divide

Undoubtedly, this is a tough issue for our club. From a fan's point of view, it seems like the executive portion of the club has taken a turn for the worse. Obviously non-sir Alex wasnt going to be a popular choice, neither was selling our past three players of the year and letting other key squad players leave on bosmans, but mistakes have been made. At this time in the season, it would be difficult to replace the manager, and might not be smart either, as Villa have been playing better ball in recent weeks. Not always receiving a better result, but it looks better. The club clearly is in a transitional period after a few years of financial splurging and yes the wage bill has to be cut, but moving forward we have a lot of bright, young talent and as the nextgen series shows, a top academy that can compete with any in Europe. I just cannot believe that McLeish can be the manager for the future of Aston Villa with where i see the clubs potential, but i guess i am not the chairman either.

sorry for the rant, feel free to comment on that or on the subject of the protest (what this post was supposed to be about)

I don't really care for McLeish, but I also think there have been undeniably positive signs over the past few months.

I will continue to rip him when I think he deserves it and praise him when I think he deserves it.

But even if you hate him and don’t see any reasons for encouragement, the idea of staging a protest/calling for Lerner to sell the club/etc is incredibly stupid. These are, so far as I can tell, there are the same people that bitched about MON having “taken us as far as he could,” the same people that blamed Lerner for MON quitting (which is amazingly schizophrenic,) the same people that protested Houllier and called for his head, the same people that scared Lerner off of even interviewing McLaren and the same people that protested McLeish’s interview.

These people have an entitlement complex, a laughably inaccurate view of reality and an unhealthy relationship with the team. I find them obnoxious and mildly offensive, but more than anything I find them deeply, deeply sad.

complainers will complain

I agree. I am curious to see how many people will show up to this one as there have been some scheduled in the past that weren’t attended as much as they were hyped.
