This morning, before the Robin van Persie story was finalized, everyone on the world wide web was up in arms about pointless international friendlies that take place right as we're about to start domestic leagues all across Europe. Aston Villa had some players who played in such matches including Brett Holman who suited up for Australia. Interestingly enough they were taking on Scotland who brought along Alan Hutton (who started) and Barry Bannan (who didn't). The good news here is that Alan Hutton, so far, is completely fine and can still be sold at some point.

The bad news is that Brett Holman limped off the pitch after a tackle from Gary Caldwell and was quickly subbed off. Apparently it looked pretty bad based on some of the reactions on Twitter. Obviously it's too soon to speculate as to how serious this injury is but it's not helpful when one considers the serious lack of depth that the squad is facing right now.

Also, it would be fine if everyone just assumed it was Alan Hutton's fault because of reasons.
