Goals by Christian Benteke and Gabriel Agbonlahor have Aston Villa up 0-2 at the half against West Bromwich Albion.
In the 12th minute of Aston Villa's crucial derby match at West Bromwich Albion, Christian Benteke did something we've seen far too little of lately: he scored. From just outside the penalty box, the Belgian pounded the ball home to the right side of the net. The goal was what we've come to expect from the striker: poised, powerful, and lovely. Don't believe me? Take a look:
Well, I'd be lying if I said I didn't expect WBA to take the lead in the coming minutes. So I was shocked to see Gabriel Agbonlahor make a total fool of Ben Foster in the 31st minute when Gabby scored the match's second goal. It was a lovely run that ended with Foster going the entirely wrong direction as Gabby slotted the ball in.
As the half came to a close, Eric Lichaj - an early-match sub for Nathan Baker who was taken out with a hamstring problem - nearly made it 0-3, but Foster finally managed a save.
Villa will look to wrap up an improbable three points in the second half. Maybe it's not the end of the club after all.
