According to Martin Laurence and the Feyenoord official website which I cannot for the life of me get to load right now Ron Vlaar has finally agreed to terms with Aston Villa. The believed agreement is to be for 4 million pounds and a three year contract. We'll post more about this as it unravels but it looks like the back line has finally been bolstered.
There have been rumblings about the future of Liverpool big man Andy Carroll since Brendan Rodgers has taken over at the Merseyside club. Rodgers has plans for Liverpool that don't involve a player like Carroll but apparently Aston Villa's new boss Paul Lambert thinks he'd be a great fit in Birmingham. Could Villa look to bring on Carroll in some kind of season long loan? Would a team of Darren Bent and Andy Carroll work for you? Let us know what you think.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has removed all doubt of his intentions after Molde's reaction to his trip to Birmingham for a "chat." The ball appears to be in Randy's court.
Shane Lowry had been away on loan at the widely-hated club Millwall and they liked him so much they decided to buy him. So he's gone. We'll miss you, you England-based Irish-Australian professional association football player.
From now on, we'll be posting new episodes of the podcast over on Podomatic, so you should be able to subscribe to the podcast there. They even have a feed you can plug into your iTunes box, and it'll hand deliver every new episode right to your computer.
I think that's how it works.
I was in the process of writing a post about how Villa are screwed. Mark Hughes would be competent, but not lead Villa to any sort of greatness and not stop the hemorrhaging of our top players. As I examined his career more carefully my view softened and my post was ruined. Maybe given time and backing he can lead us forward if he is indeed the guy. Still not my first choice.

Remember when we were in the relegation zone? Look at what two wins in a row will get you.
Boy this transfer window has made me feel a lot better about our team.
Not a whole lot of substance here, aside from Lerner's confirmation that MON's leaving was an issue of the manager and chairman's no longer seeing eye to eye where the club's path forward is concerned.
The youngster has been having a fantastic pre-season and it's nice to see him get some recognition for it. Also nice to see a Villa player on the same squad with talents such as Jack Rodwell, Chris Smalling, Danny Rose and Daniel Sturridge.
